Going against the flow!

Internet banking is changing from a fad to niche service in Iran. Iranian IT Council secretary said that internet banking accounts will launch for high school and university students.

Banks are pushing internet banking as a cost saving method by getting people out of queues.
Due to poor quality of service and lack of trust the service is not yet successful but the officials believe the barriers to adoption are high perceived costs and a reticence to try something users don’t know or understand.

They believe consumers tend to experience attitude shifts and are won over by the ease of use of internet banking and it will become a big transaction generator in future.

The government is pushing the students to internet bank accounts as a way to promote e-commerce and the culture of using national internet for the masses.

Having the largest population of internet users in the Middle East and national internet infrastructure in Iran is a base for e-commerce services in Iran.

Officials are against using internet for fun or adultery and ban website which promote western culture, politics, and lifestyle.

They advertise local internet services like e-banking and e-commerce based on national internet infrastructure and try to limit the outbound internet usage.

{June 7, 2007}   Good , Bad and Ugly

Iran Ministry of ICT is going to cut internet bandwidth prices by 30% very soon.

Bad news is that the cost of Internet services are partially dependent on bandwidth and most ISPs will not decrease the end user prices.

The ugly side is no ISP is allowed to provide high speed DSL lines to home users. Internet savvy users are restricted to 128kbps by law!

Internet prices are high, you should pay around 25$/month for a 128 kbps DSL line with poor quality of service.

{May 15, 2007}   e-Propaganda

Where is the border between propoganda as an advertising and promotional or informational method and as a lying method?

Do we know propaganda techniques used to avoid the truth?

One of the methods that I have seen is using online media, Specially in developing countries where conventional media is under strict laws and moderation but new media is not well known to authorities.

e- propaganda is a new concept that should be well defined , this is a need for people to know how much they can trust online media and web sites,

They should know who is behind a website and what is said between the lines of news and buzzwords in weblogs , and what is kept hidden.

Online media can be used as a tool for infomation exchange, preventing censorship and supporting free speech and at the same time be used as a tool to change an evil to an angel!

So think twice!

{November 7, 2006}   Marketing concepts

Nice marketing concepts to share with you:

1. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: “I am very rich. Marry me!” – That’s Direct Marketing

2. You’re at a party with a bunch of friends and see a gorgeous girl. One of your friends goes up to her and pointing at you says:
“He’s very rich. Marry him.” – That’s Advertising.

3. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and get her telephone number. The next day, you call and say: “Hi, I’m very rich. Marry me.” – That’s Telemarketing.

4. You’re at a party and see gorgeous girl. You get up and straighten your tie, you walk up to her and pour her a drink, you open the door (of the car) for her, pick up her bag after she drops it, offer her ride and then say:
“By the way, I’m rich. Will you marry me?” – That’s Public Relations

5. You’re at a party and see gorgeous girl. She walks up to you and says:
“You are very rich! Can you marry me?” – That’s Brand Recognition.

6. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: “I am very rich. Marry me!” She gives you a nice hard slap on your face. – That’s Customer Feedback.

7. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: “I am very rich. Marry me!” And she introduces you to her husband. – That’s demand and supply gap.

8. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say anything, another person come and tell her: “I’m rich. Will you marry me?” and she goes with him – That’s competition eating into your market share.

9. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say: “I’m rich Marry me!” your wife arrives. – That’s restriction for entering new markets.

{October 21, 2006}   PersianBlog

I had planned to start an english blog when I leave persianblog and get more courage, It is my honor to inform you that I have left PersianBlog now. Actually it was my birthday gift to myself!
Going Against the flow is not easy. There are some years passed now, I tried to modify persianblog and lead it to the right direction , I stayed to keep it clean and trustful as much as I can , but now I prefer to leave it and build something else again!

Now, Persianblog has more than 600,000 users and 30,000,000 monthly visits. Too much better in quantitative approach but much worse in quality and direction and thoughts of its owners. I’m not going to impower persianblog anymore!

It is an excerpt from interview at the second year of persianblog, I remember I thought about what to say:

” 10. Any last comment? Throughout history, Persia has been a distinct and important cultural entity. Its position enabled the Persians to preserve their individuality in different ages of history. Today, It remains rich in many aspects, with a culture which has had great influence on other countries. We hope to relive the Iranian honor on the very media. “
I didn’t look for power and politics, and I didn’t want to establish an emperor! I hoped to relive the Iranian honor on Internet and succeeded , and I tolerated many things , even endangered my life!

We were young and backed by trust and favour of iranians around the world. thank you all! but, Now, Its not my style! just not persianblog, somewhere else, so I leave!
